Journeyman’s Log #1
Not Knowing Is Part of the Work
There’s a moment in every build where you realize something important:
You don’t actually know everything yet.
That moment isn’t failure — it’s the beginning of real work.
For a long time, I thought experience meant having all the answers. What I’ve learned instead is that experience comes from knowing how to ask the right questions and being honest about where you stand.
That’s where TuffEnuffCntry is right now.
Losing a Known Path
There was a time when I didn’t think much about seeds. I used what I knew — Mayo Seeds. They worked, they were familiar, and that was enough. At some point, they were gone. No announcement, no replacement, just… gone.
That forced me to slow down.
Not rush to replace them.
Not grab the first thing that looked close enough.
But to ask: What actually matters here?
Learning Before Claiming
The easiest thing in the world would be to pretend I’ve tested everything, grown everything, and figured it all out. Plenty of people do that online.
That’s not the road I’m on.
Being a journeyman means admitting when you’re still learning — and choosing to learn the right way. Before I plant a seed, I want to understand how it was bred, where it’s meant to grow, and whether the people behind it respect the long game.
That same thinking applies to everything under the TuffEnuffCntry name:
Gear
Food
Tools
Skills
Nothing gets rushed just so it can be claimed.
Why This Log Exists
This log isn’t here to teach from a pedestal.
It’s here to document the process.
What works.
What doesn’t.
What’s worth keeping.
Over time, these logs will show progress — not perfection. Trials instead of talk. Experience earned instead of borrowed.
The Point of the Journey
TuffEnuffCntry isn’t being built by pretending to be finished. It’s being built by doing the work, asking better questions, and respecting the time it takes to get things right.
That’s what a journeyman does.
And this is just the first entry.
Stand Tough. Live Country.
